Updated: Feb 26

Play parks have come a long old way since my childhood.

Red swing frames and squeaky roundabouts have been traded in for vast sandpits with water features, and plants and trees are now being incorporated into many major London parks.

Here are some of my favourite children's play parks in North London:

Best For...Hours of Fun.

Claremont Park - Brent Cross

The park’s beautifully landscaped gardens, with vibrant flowers and neatly trimmed hedges, provide an elegant and picturesque backdrop. Its well-maintained green spaces, mature trees, and open areas allow for a variety of shots that capture the essence of family life. Whether you want candid moments or carefully posed photos, Claremont Park’s peaceful atmosphere and natural beauty make it a perfect choice for professional family photography.

Best For...Tranquil Vibes and a Long Zip Line!

Gloucester Gate Play Park - Regents Park

Regent’s Park, one of London’s most iconic green spaces, offers families the perfect blend of natural beauty, open spaces, and family-friendly attractions. Located in the heart of Central London, this vast and picturesque park is a wonderful spot for a day out with loved ones and an excellent location for capturing special family moments in your photoshoots.

Regent’s Park is not just another city park; it’s a true gem in the heart of London. Whether you live in the area or are visiting the city, it’s an accessible and beautiful destination for families. With its wide variety of activities, from playtime in the park to a peaceful stroll through the gardens, there’s something for everyone. For families looking to capture those precious moments together, Regent’s Park provides a range of stunning settings to suit any style of photoshoot in one of London’s most iconic green spaces.

Best for....Being in an actual Forest and a separate area for under five's.

Highgate Wood

Nestled in the heart of North London, Highgate Wood Playpark is a wonderful spot for families to enjoy a day out. This picturesque park, surrounded by lush woodlands, offers a peaceful and vibrant space for children and adults alike. Whether you're looking for a scenic place to take family photos or an adventurous playground to keep the little ones entertained, Highgate Wood Playpark has it all.

A Perfect Spot for Family Photoshoots

For families looking for a picturesque location for their next photoshoot, Highgate Wood provides a range of beautiful backdrops. From the sun-dappled paths winding through the trees to the spacious open lawns, this park offers a variety of natural settings that make for stunning family portraits. The park's serene atmosphere and abundant greenery give every photo a fresh, lively feel — perfect for capturing the essence of family life.

Playpark Highlights for Children

Highgate Wood Playpark is a haven for children, with modern and well-maintained play equipment designed for various age groups. The expansive play area features climbing frames, swings, slides, and sandpits, all surrounded by safety surfacing to ensure fun and safety go hand-in-hand. The park's spaciousness means children can explore freely, and its location within the larger Highgate Wood offers an added adventure with its wooded trails and wildlife.

Highgate Wood is more than just a local playground; it’s a community space that brings families together. The park’s proximity to other North London hotspots makes it a convenient and memorable destination for a family day out. Whether you're a local or just visiting, this charming park offers a peaceful escape from the hustle and bustle of city life.
